The Chatham Collection

There’s nothing quite like the holiday season in Chatham, MA. Located on the “elbow” of Cape Cod, the summertime population of Chatham is over 20,000 people but in December the population is just 6,200. With smaller crowds, there’s more room to enjoy everything from holiday strolls down charming Main Street to lighthouses decorated with enormous wreaths. Our new Chatham Collection is inspired by a winter holiday by the sea, knit in baby alpaca with a subtle tone on tone stripe pattern, these knotties are great for gifting but also for keeping warm and making the most of everything the season has to offer. Here’s how we’re planning to bundle up and savor the season:

SANTA’S ARRIVAL AT CHATHAM FISH PIER
Chatham is a commercial fishing town, so it makes sense that Santa skips the sleigh and arrives by boat. The first weekend of December, Santa will arrive in town escorted by the coast guard (sorry, no reindeer). In addition to loads of cod and haddock there should be tons of holiday cheer. After Santa’s arrival it’s a short drive up Shore Road to the Chatham Bars Inn. This grand Great Gatsby hotel overlooks the ocean and has a roaring fireplace where you can warm-up. Get some fish and chips at the Sacred Cod tavern inside and if you’re ready to venture out again, head to Lighthouse Beach for a peaceful winter walk. CHATHAM CHRISTMAS BY THE SEA, HOLIDAY STROLL
On the weekend of Dec 7-9, the stores on Main Street will welcome shoppers with homemade cookies, a tree-lighting ceremony and carolers. Every successful shopping trip on Main Street begins with a trip to the Snowy Owl – our favorite cup of coffee on the cape. Grab a cup of their locally roasted brew and a spinach scone. Be sure to stop in a couple of our favorite shops including The Fisherman’s Daughter and Chatham Home. After you’re fully in the Holiday spirit head up the street to The Chatham Wine Bar. Snack on their complimentary true popcorn while looking over their impressive list of wines by the glass. We love sipping a perfectly chilled glass of their ZD Chardonnay in the intimate bar area or by the fire in the larger dining room. FIRST NIGHT
First Night in Chatham draws visitors from all around the region. It’s a full day of events dedicated to music, performance and the arts. First night is fun but the weather is often freezing. Our approach: Layer up and Chow down (on chowder). We’ll be wearing a hat and our Little Knotty scarf – both are easy to take on and off as you go in and out of venues all along Main Street. The stick to your ribs New England Clam chowder at The Chatham Squire will keep you going until the midnight fireworks at Oyster Pond. Or at least, until the early bird fireworks at Veterans Field at 6:30 pm. For more First Night details visit here and the Chatham Squire here.
